Liked Prophecies. Loved Factions. Nightfall CE will be delivered to my doorstep whenever it's out.

I have to say, when I witness nightfall, it felt like I got ripped off buying faction.

Sadly...I'm quoting this because I feel the same way...though I felt the same way with Prophecies after Factions. When each games adds so much more than the last you kind of feel...ripped off buying the first one...

Nightfall is looking to be better then Factions, and I thought Factions was worth the money.

^ lol actually I haven't... I've played so much of both that I think I've more than got my money's worth - and I only play casually. Ok, maybe not that time over my annual leave back in March, but you get the idea...

As for whether NF is worth it, we can't truly answer that yet... I think the overwhelming feeling of this thread is that it WILL be worth it

Hell yeah! The heroes are going to be awesome. Also new skills like Destructive Chop and Light of Deliverance are going to be fun!

P.S. The same cannot be said about male paragons...............

That just sounds like you're complaining that the game is getting better. Would you rather each chapter be just equal to the previous chapter so you don't feel ripped off?

Does that mean I should feel ripped off because the computer I bought a year ago is so much better than the one I bought three years ago?

A new campaign, new skills, new classes and a brand new way (Heroes) to replay the 'old' campaigns is definitely worth it for me.

I'm sure there will be little bits that I will consider icing on the cake like the unique factions storage upgrade which I think is downright awesome, if NF does bring salvageable inscriptions for instance I'd consider that on par with the Materials storage option and I honestly hope it will be a unique NF extra.

It will probably be worth (my) money, but it's too early to tell. Factions was a disappointment to me and I don't want to have learned no lesson from that. So I'll wait until the reviews are in before buying Nightfall. I don't obsess over the things that many forumites do, such as salvaging or drop rates or whatever, but from what I've seen and read there will be no serious improvement to PvP in Nightfall. Hero vs. Hero doesn't excite me at all. So I will have to consider carefully whether I want to spend $50 on a PvE game which I expect will pale in comparison to Neverwinter Nights 2. So there's plenty of reason to be cautious.

I am also not going to trust anything I read on forums such as this one. Over the past year I have become severely disillusioned about the opinions of forum posters. Half the posts are inexplicably negative, and the other half are equally bizarrely sycophantic.

If everyone was dissapointed with Factions, they wouldn't still be in Cantha. And if the Alliance Battles were a flop, they wouldn't be as active as they are.

Then what was the point of posting that? You obviously think highly of NWN2, so Nightfall shouldn't even be on your list.

I say, don't think about it and go with your instinct. Don't Buy it. Meanwhile, others will be enjoying another creative chapter.

That's not necessarily true, people might play in Cantha because:

1) The Canthan quests are worth a great deal of experience more than the quests in Prophecies, and thus its easier to earn skill points by playing in Cantha.

2) The Canthan elites.

3) Missions are faster and shorter, and getting a master reward nets you threee skill points, a bunch of experience, and some gold. In Prophecies, the missions tend to be longer, eszpecially certain bonuses, and the final reward is only about 2000 experience.

4) The titles in Cantha are easier to earn than the are in Tyria; there's only 13 missions as opposed to 25 and a lot less land to cover.

5) Access to more varied weapon types (Energy +5 melee weapons for example), different skins, and the Elite missions.

There's more you can consider as well, such as chest running, which seems more prevalent in Cantha because of the Imperial Palace and how relatively small in size it is compared to other high end areas in Prophecies.

As for the Alliance Battles, if we are are referring to Fort Aspenwood and The Jade Mines, and not the Terriotry Battles, then I'd say its been a bit of a flop. I've played the Jade Mines maybe twice since the game was first released. A shame, because I do enjoy the map. Yet there's no incentive for Luxons to play there when they can often get easier faction points at Fort Aspenwood. even when I go to the Luxon side and wait there, there's all of three other people there at any one time, and I often end up back at Fort Aspenwood. Playing the same alliance battle over and over again for faction gets boring after a while. If the Jade Mines had a higher Luxon presence, then the alliance battles wouldn't be so bad. but waiting in the Jade Mines could take a couple of hours before you can play one game. And for a casual player like me, I'm usually out of luck.

Just returned from time traveling and I have to say that Nightfall's mainland has everything wrong. It is worser than Factions!!!

I also finished remote brain scanning and executed my memory images simulation with dmapes preference parameters which clearly showed that dmapes shouldn't buy this game because the simulation had so many negative reactions when Nightfall memory images were running.

I henched all the bonuses in Tyria. Couldn't see myself pulling that off with masters in Cantha.

For me it's clear which protector title is easier to earn.

How'd you pull off Dunes of Despair and the Aruora Glade bonuses?

Or Glint at Dragon's Lair?

Or preserving the gaurdians while activating the druids in Bloodstone Fen?

Or the Iron Mines, where the regular henchies aren't infused like the elite henchies (Devona, Aidan, etc.)?

'Cause those are the only missions I'm missing, and its been a while, but last I tired them they didn't go so well with the henchies. But if you know how to complete them with henchies, I'd appreciate the strategy because I want to go back to it eventually.

Irregardless though, I still think Cantha is faster to complete than Tyria. Tyria is time consuming even with henchies (especially with all henchies). And again, the Master rewards for Canthan missions provide better rewards than the bonus completion in Tyrian missions.

You can't judge a game until it's been released. The preview might help you decide whether to buy the game or not, but you won't know it's worth until you actually install and play it.

From what we've seen so far, the developers really seem to have put a lot of time and effort into Nightfall, so I think in the end, it will indeed be worth the price of admission.

You've misread or misunderstood my post. Be assured that I'm getting NWN2 whatever the case. The question is whether Nightfall will do anything exciting with PvP, which is my main interest in GW. Signs point to no.
